Make Up Revolution Awesome Metal Eye Foil

Another budget friendly fun eye shadow is the Make up revolution awesome metal eye foil – bit of a mouthful! These are sold in superdrug and online at for £4!!
These products can be seen as dupes for the popular Stila foil shadows which cost an eye watering £33.50 for one. I have not tried the stila ones but I after trying the Make Up revolution ones I am not even tempted. DSC_1443

The colour I have is Rose Gold. In the box it comes with a liquid primer, the ‘powder’ which I would say is more like a cream and a mixing tray. Without the liquid primer the colour is a lot more subtle this is the result – DSC_1445 it is a bit more patchy with the colour and wears away quickly leaving a glossy sheen and some glitter. The real magic happens when you mix the liquid primer and the powder on the mixing tray and pat with your finger the product onto your lids.DSC_1434 it gives an almost gold leaf effect to the eyes and is very quick and fun for a party, it makes you look like you put a lot more effort into your make up! It wears very well and is a fun thing for a Friday night. The only downside is that it can get quite messy – getting the product out of the pot and onto the mixing tray just make sure you wash your hands or have a make up wipe on hand otherwise it will go everywhere! Baby skin vs the pore fessional

Posted by Grace

After getting a sample bottle of benefits Pore fessional I thought it was only right to compare the product with Maybelline’s baby skin instant pore eraser.

The baby skin primer is the clear gel and the pore fessional the nude one. The consistency of both are very similar and both when blended in are completely invisible on the skin.

To test them both I put one product one side and the other on the other side (pore fessional on the left side, baby skin on the right)

20140507-213442.jpg The pore fessional is really worth the hype! The product sunk into my skin and I doesn’t feel like another layer. It filled my pores and left my skin feeling even and soft.

The baby skin instant pore eraser made my skin feel very soft with a silicone texture and is very good for evening everything out. It doesn’t fill in my pores as well as the benefit primer or sink in as seamlessly you can still feel it on the skin until a base is added. It does however prolong the wear of my foundation very well.

This is my face with only the primers on. I have an even face and a good base and if I was I was just going to college or not doing much I would leave my face like this. Adding foundation and the rest of my make up, the foundation glided on smoothly and sat very nicely on my face not looking cakey or like another layer. Having the primers also meant I could use less powder. The benefits of the Maybeline primer is that it is around £7 and works well for young skin and teenagers who want an evening base for the rest of the make up. I don’t think it is a good for filling in the pores but the packaging is nice and simple and it is worth trying if you are starting out or on a budget. The pore fessional does everything it says it should however it is only for those who are willing to splurge but I think it is definitely worth trying out and this month free with Elle magazine you can get a sample. It is a great primer and worth all the good reviews!

My MAC lipsticks

I own 3 MAC lipsticks and I must say I do love them! All of them were gifts and as sentimental and cheesy as it may sound each one has a memory attached!

This is my newest MAC lipstick it is called Saigon Summer and is a crenels sheen the colour is a goldy orange tangerine shade which is quite sheer so perfect for every day but very buildable. The formula is smooth and creamy and doesn’t dry my lips out. It is a great summer staple! I am such an ib student trying to focus on the lipstick using a copy of my George Orwell essays!!!

This is the shade hibiscus, I got given this by my god father who got it free when he worked for the magazine Esquire, the colour is a pinky coral and wears well on the lips it is very versatile. Because the colour was limited edition the closest dupe I have found I the Rimmel lasting finish by Kate Moss in the colour 110

The MAC one is on the left and the Rimmel lipstick on the right. They are different in texture as the Rimmel lipstick is matte but they very similar in colour.

Morange is my brightest MAC lipstick, it is an amplified, it is very long lasting and a great alternative for people who don’t like reds or want a bright staple for summer and festivals. The texture is quite thick but very moisturising on the lips it is my most pigmented lipstick as well just make sure you haven’t got any on your teeth!

This is the second part of a series on MAC lipsticks
